Printer, Default configuration Settings are not taken by clients.

2022-05-19T13:29:31.133+00:00

Yesterday i had installed a new server with virtual machines. One of those machines is an active directory with print server.
there are 5 printers installed.

I have made configuration settings like "print in color" and "print in black and white".
The printer in color is called "printer - color" the Printer in black and white is called "Printer - BW"

I have made an new GPO for the printers.
Under "userconfiguration-settings-systemcontrollsettings-printers" i created new printerobjects for the users.
In the properties i choose as shared path the printer installed at the printserver. The action is update.
The Policy will be executed under userrights and are mapped to a group.

Everything is working fine, because the Printers will be deployed normal to the for the User. (NOT MACHINE)

Unfortunately the default settings will be not taken by the Printers on the clients.

Somebody has an Idea?

Yes thats right. The changes are pushed to the client, until the user is making itself changes in the driver, for example if the user is changing b\w to color. While the user changes the settings, it will not reverted back from server until the Printer is deleted. But there are many manufacturer which are allowing to block the settings. That is also my solution for now.

    cheers.
