Shared menu between all sites

We currently have a third party app that creates a mega menu for all our sites, but it's become problematic and I'd like to use Microsoft's stuff instead. It seems the only way to have a shared mega menu is to join all our sites to a hub site. Is that correct? The issue is that we have a mix of team and communication sites and only communication sites can be joined to hub sites. It would be a lot of work to convert everything to communication sites, and we have some sites that were created by Teams, so they must remain team sites.

Anyone have a better solution for this?

Thanks!

    anonymous user,

Yes, you are right. We can achieve a shared mega menu via associating all sites with a hub site.

For reference on how to create a mega menu in hub site:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-a-mega-menu-on-communication-sites-and-hub-sites-d6768545-2391-4c66-9a8c-a85eb76b4cf5

    Quote from Microsoft:

“SharePoint hub sites provide an important building block for your intranet. They are the "connective tissue" you use when organizing families of team sites and communication sites together”.

So both team sites and communication sites could join to the hub site, it’s not necessary to convert team sites to communication sites.

Please refer to the following image to connect the team site to hub site:

Microsoft is releasing the SharePoint App bar which will have Global navigation driven from a Home site.

It isn't available today, but will be the solution for tenant-wide global nav.
