    Hi,

There could be a few reasons for this but here are some methods you can try to troubleshoot it-

    1. Verify that no other process or user is currently using the table you are trying to open in design view. MS Access allows only one user to modify the design of a table at a time.
    2. Make sure that read-only mode has been disabled for the database file. You won't be able to modify the tables if the file is read-only.
    3. Verify that you have the right permissions to change the database's tables. If the database you are using is a shared one, the administrator might have forbidden some users from altering the table layout.
    4. Problems with table design can result from a corrupt database file. To see if the problem still exists, try opening a database backup copy if you have one. Or else perform a "Compact and Repair" on your database.

If you have any doubts, please let me know.

    Best Regards.
