How to troubleshoot the cause of our Front end access database crashes that occur 2-3 times a day?
we have a front end database that we use in the front office. in the last year, we have gotten to the point that the database crashes several times a day.
we solve it by getting all users off the database, deleting the lock file ( it is always there even with the databases closed and lists computers more than once), opening the back end database, compact and repairing it.
we notice that we will lose records (in our case we lose invoices) on some occasions.
I changed the client settings to :
default record locking : edited record (this was set today, but seems to cause an error)
ole/dde: 30
refresh: 60
retries:0
ODBC 1500
update : 250
enable DDE
and we are using legacy encryption
backend size: 217Mb
front end size 52Mb
we use the latest versions of access from office. we run windows 10pro. we use file redirection for our desktops. our server has a domain controller and a file server.
we have 5 people in our company.
I am not an IT person, but I know enough to cause accidental damage after managing the network the last decade or so.
I have run ping 8.8.8.8 on all the computers to see if a single computer was with bad connection, but found nothing.
The last two weeks, I had the front office write down the times and what they were doing when the database crashed. I see nothing related.
they say the most common error says something like unrecognized data
