Hi

This is weird, I deleted 3 folders from our Azure Files but 2 of them keep showing. One dessapeared inmediatly. Is this normal?, when will the other 2 dessapear?

I'm using Azure Storage Explorer to perform these operations but I can see the deleted folders also with the Azure Portal.

Thanks in advance

    Hello Huain Gomez,

Greetings! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform.

If you’ve deleted a folder in Azure Storage Explorer but it’s still appearing, there are a few steps you can take to address this:

Sometimes, deleted files or folders may still appear due to caching or synchronization issues. After deleting the folder, refresh the File Explorer window to see if it disappears. If it doesn’t, consider restarting your modem/router and all PCs on your network to ensure proper synchronization.

When you delete a blob (file) in Azure Storage, it might be soft deleted. Soft delete protects blobs and their versions, snapshots, and metadata from accidental deletion or overwrites by maintaining the deleted data for a specified period.

    • To view and manage soft-deleted blobs using the Azure portal, follow these steps:
    • Navigate to the container where the folder was located.
    • Toggle the “Show deleted blobs” setting to see soft-deleted blobs.
    • Select the deleted blob to view its properties.
    • If needed, restore the blob using the “Undelete” button.
    • If the folder contained snapshots, you could also view and restore soft-deleted snapshots.
    • Note that after the retention period expires, the blob is permanently deleted.

You can find more information on soft delete in Azure Storage Explorer in the following link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-explorer-soft-delete#view-soft-deleted-blobs

Also check if there are any azure policies preventing the deletion and check you have enough permissions to perform the same. refer -https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/azure-storage/blobs/alerts/storage-explorer-troubleshooting?tabs=Windows

Hope this answer helps! Please let us know if you have any further queries. I’m happy to assist you further.
