Copilot for Excel

HI all. I just got copilot, so I am still learning how to make it work for me. I was excited about its use in Excel, but it doesn't appear to be ready for prime time.

I have a sheet open and when I click copilot, it comes up in the right pane and tells me "No data selected from an Excel table or data range" with an extended message that tells me it only works with Excel tables. OK, fine. I convert my sheet into a table (ctrl+T), as it's pretty basic. I then select everything on the sheet, or I select one single column or row (I've tried multiple ways of selecting, including ctrl+A). Great! The copilot prompt box becomes typeable! I get a few characters into whatever I'm typing and then it stops me and repeats the error message. I still have the data selected, but it's the exact same error message, and it won't let me proceed. I can repeat these steps ad infinitum.

Anyone have any insight? Appreciate it!

    Hi @WRMC IT

When entering your prompts to Copilot, please specify the data range. Here are 2 samples:

    • Create a bar graph showing the sales growth between Q2 and Q3.
    • Add a new column showing the percentage difference between column A and column C.
