Move SharePoint Search Service Application to new server farm

I have successfully moved all my web applications and managed metadata term stores to a new server farm from AWS to Azure. I can't figure out how to copy the custom search service applications over that contain custom schema, crawled properties, etc...

I have tried multiple PowerShell scripts that fail, have made backups of the SSA from current farm through central admin and the restore on the new server fails. Anybody know how to move custom SSA over to a new farm.
