What is staging location

What is Microsoft recommendation for staging location? Do we need to create a separate dedicated Non-ZRS storage account or can we use any existing NOn-ZRS storage account?

Hi @Mahavir Saroj ,

if you are referring to the staging location in the restore process of Azure Backup in my opinion a non-ZRS storage account (LRS) should be sufficient. After the successful restore the copy of the VD file should be deleted to avoid unnecessary charges.

@Andreas Baumgarten Thank you for the information. After successful restoration, will the VHD file be automatically deleted or do we have to manually delete it? Can we use the existing LRS storage account as a staging location to restore the VM?

Hi @Mahavir Saroj,

you can select an existing storage account in the staging location drop down menu.

You have to delete the VHD file after successful restore and testing the VM manually.
