Azure AD Password-SSO for 3rd-party desktop app

Is there a way to implement Azure AD Password-based SSO for a 3rd-party desktop application? I understand the current solution only supports web-based applications through the use of the My Apps browser extension.

Is the best option just to use a password management tool that integrates with Azure AD in order to have some control over the credentials?

    As of now there is no plan to open the Password based SSO for 3rd party desktop apps. But in the future the Authenticator Autofill app with Password vaulting may solve this scenario.
