I am the IT personnel at our company. Recently, I discovered that users who have joined the domain are unable to update their Windows systems properly. When these users select “Shut down and update,” the update progress gets stuck at 9%, and upon reboot, it says an unexpected error occurred and is reverting the changes.

However, if using a local account or Domain Admin privileges, the update proceeds without any issues. Could you please advise what might be causing this problem?

    Hi Femas,

This is due to policy which has been updated by system admin. In most cases it require admin acces to update the same for security reason .

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Please kindly try below steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1.Check if there's any group policy setting that restrict the domain user update.

2.Check if user have mandatory permission to install the update.

3.Check if windows update service is running properly on the client machines.

4.Check if there's any software like security software that can lead to a conflict.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
