Using commas in conjunction with autocorrect replace words on Word 365

Question

I use a lot of autocorrects in my work. I like to type the replace word into my document before commas. For example, one replace word is "yh" for "Your Honour" For some reason, on one of my computers, if I type in my document "yh" then type a comma, I will get "Your Honour" with a comma after it (Your Honour,) . On my other computer, if I type in my document "yh" then type a comma, I will only get yh with a comma after it (yh,). Very hard to explain, but I need to be able to type "yh," and get "Your Honour,"

Hi Layne,

The thing is, autocorrect is sensitive to the proofing language being applied to the text being typed. This can be different from that set for the document or for Word. There can be a different proofing language applied to each character in a document!

It may be that your issue is something else entirely.

Consider using Jay Freedman's AutoCorrect2007 utility to completely backup and copy AutoCorrect. Make a backup on the computer where it works and copy that to the other computer.

What are you using for the proofing language? Please go to your 2 computers, open Word > File > Options > Language, check whether the proofing language is consistent.

Then on your computer, go to: C:\Users[your_user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office.

1. You’ll see a suite of ACL files listed. The MSO numbers in each file name indicate the language/locale; e.g. MSO0127.acl = Math, MSO1033.acl = English (US), MSO2057.acl = English, (UK). (For a full list of locale numbers, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/office_standards/ms-oe376/6c085406-a698-4e12-9d4d-c3b0ee3dbc4a)
2. Copy the ACL file with the language you need.
3. On the destination computer, please also go to: C:\Users[user_name_of_other person]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office.
4. Move the ACL file to other location as a backup.
5. Paste the copied files into this folder.
6. Check this issue, whether you are able to type "yh," and get "Your Honour,".

The MSOs are all the same for both computers, the autocorrects work on both computers, but on the one I use for work they don’t work with a comma; the comma is not part of the replacement word; if if type yh I get Your Honour on both, but it I type yh followed by a comma, on one I’ll get Your Honour, and on the other I’ll only get yh,
