You can use the my free Add-In if you want to make your page numbering continuous throughout the document.

    https://addbalance.com/word/download.htm#ContinuousPageNumbering

If you download it and open it without allowing macros, you will find the macro code in the document that you can use if you prefer that to allowing the macro to run directly from the Add-In. Here is a separate link to a macro (from Jay Freedman). https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/page-numbers-are-all-fouled-up-in-my-large/d188687e-9663-43e0-a450-1dbadc47f09f

Alternatively, go to each page mistakenly numbered 1 and use the Format Page Numbers dialog to say "Continue from Previous." This is a section setting.
