This is CM404,

I  have an HP Pavilion x360 - 11m-ad113dx. It has one slot for RAM. It currently has 4GB of RAM and i need to upgrade preferably to 16GB RAM but my users guide says that it can only go up to 8GB RAM. When I run the Command Prompt command: wmic memphysical get maxcapacity and do the conversion kilobytes to gigabytes my machine says it can handle 16GB RAM. I would like to know several things.

  1. Why does my OEM manual say the limit is 8GB RAM?
  2. Why does my Command Prompt say 16GB RAM?
  3. Which is the correct option?

Thank you for your time and help.

Sincerely,

CM404

    Hi CM404,

I believe 16gb is max for your unit. However go over to the HP Web Site @ https://www.support.hp.com and you will be able to see all the specks for your unit. Just type in the numbers that you have provided above in your post.

    I Hope this helps

Hi, I am Nigel, Independent Advisor here to work with you on this issue.

    The HP Pavilion x360 - 11m-ad113dx

    Currently 4 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM

Crucial advice maximum memory is 16GB, up to DDR4-2666 SDRAM

    https://uk.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/h...

Another site also advises 16GB is correct.

    https://www.mrmemory.co.uk/memory-ram-upgrades/...

There is a YouTube video showing installation of 16GB on this model

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bvIsI4QGEQ

Please make sure you install the latest BIOS before upgrading.

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservic...

Older BIOS may not recognise the increased memory amount or the 2666 speed correctly.

    Hope this helps!
