Hi,

I accidentally changed my c-drive to dynamic disk. It is my only memory on my pc. How can I change it back to basic disk? I allready searched information and looked up for various instructions and videos. I can't delete volumes because os is installed on that and that is why I can't figure this out without help. I was close to reinstall windows but I find out that wasn't going solve this problem. So what are my options?

    Hi Jezerd

At the very start of the Installation Process, press Shift + F10, or Shift + Fn + F10 to open Command Prompt

Run this command and hit Enter:

    diskpart

Run this command and hit Enter:

    list disk

(Make note of the disk number you want to convert and enter it into the next command - replace xxx in the next command with that disk number)

Run this command and hit Enter:

    select disk xxx

Run this command and hit Enter:

    clean

Then close Command Prompt and begin the installation again . . .

    Hi Jezerd

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

There are 3rd party partitioning utilities that report they can convert a Dynamic Disk to Basic without data loss, they may be worth looking at, but they are paid for software and we are not allowed to link to those on this forum . . .

Otherwise, to convert that disk back to a basic Disk, you will need to re-install Windows 10, and at the start of the installation, delete all partitions on the drive or use Diskpart in Command Prompt to clean the drive

    Hi,

Thank you for you'r fast reply. I'm now re-installing windows, but I can't delete partions of my drive. Delete button is not active. So I choose option "custom: install windows only (advanced)" and now it's asking where I like to instal windows. There is 4 different partions and only that dynamic one is big enough. I can't delete any of partions. I also cant create new partions. Buttons that are active: update, download driver and erase. I have selected every drive and erased them, except one partion (MRS) it cannot be erased. What can I do now?
