Outbox

Hello.

I have not used outlook for years since windows 98 probably. I have been using another service.

Anyways, this past year, I switched back to using outlook.

Everything has been working fine until today.

Today I went to send my husband an email, it sat in the outbox. It just went back and forth from sending to still trying to send.

I then thought to send it to his other email, and I got the same problem.

At this time, I asked my husband to send me something, and he got the same issue.

We are both receiving emails just fine, but neither of us are able to receive.

Now, when we go online and use our browser with the server provide, the outgoing works fine there.

I am not sure how to fix this issue.

I have tried to search on it, but all the helps show outlook with this bar a the top to acccess stuff, and we don't have any kind of bar at the top of our current mail.

Even when clicking on the little settings gear at the bottom and clicking on accounts, I can only see my name, email, and password. I can no longer view my incoming and outgoing port information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I see I have mail not outlook anymore.

I didn't realize they were two different things.

I typed outlook into start, and it brought up the app, and auto brought up my email.

It asked for password, and showed me hundreds of emails that I have already deleted from mail.

    lol.

Now I have two mail and outlook.

While I loved the header on outlook... after using mail, I like all the color. It doesn't look so blah.

Now I got to figure out how to get outlook not to run.

The troubles I bring on to myself. lol.

The issue seems to have been fixed overnight. I just got on to write the above reply, and my husband came in to tell me that he got my messages this morning. I just checked my mail, and I have received his too.

Thank you for trying to help though. I am glad they got it fixed.

I would still be nice to know why my outlook or mail whatever it is called now does not look the same as everyone elses. It makes it hard to watch videos on help, when everyone has headers at the top, and tells you to click on something you don't have.

Maybe you're using something else, the mail app from Windows 10?

    Have a look at:

Set up email in the Mail app (microsoft.com)

    And take a look at:

What version of Outlook do I have? (microsoft.com)

Yes, we can both receive, but we can't send.

We get no error, it just continues to say sending.

The thing is, along time ago when I used outlook, there was a header at the top that had file, etc. I would click on accounts, click on the username, and be able to look at outgoing and incoming settings. There is no header on our mail. I can't find file anywhere to click on.

There is a little gear at the bottom of the page, and when I click on it, a list comes up. I see account settings in that, but when I click on it, all it has is name, email, and password. There is no place to look at settings, or change settings.

I contacted our email provider, and they said no changes have been made on their end.

They had me open a browser, and access our email from a browser, and the send option worked just fine there.

    Good day,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

From your description " We are both receiving emails just fine, but neither of us are able to receive."

I understand that both you and your husband can't send emails,  please tell me if I didn't understand correctly.

And you said that the website of your mailbox address works well, so maybe the issue is caused by the outgoing port and server.

You may please re-configure your mailbox by go Outlook>File>Account Setting>New.

You can check the Port and Encryption in the official website of your mailbox address

For more information on how to reconfigure your mailbox, please see the link: Add an email account to Outlook (microsoft.com)

We look forward to your response.

    Best Regards,

Silvia | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
