Input selection / validation on MS Forms

I would like to use MS Forms for marking projects, where several markers independently mark a report or presentation. That is easy enough, but I need to ensure that each form correctly references the student whose work is being marked. Different spellings or orderings of names, etc. or typos when entering student ID numbers could be a major problem.

I would therefore like to generate forms that either have a drop-down menu of ID numbers/names for markers to select, or that can perform input validation to ensure that a valid ID (alphanumeric; various formats) has been entered.

Is that something that can be done with MS Forms?

Hi Geraint,

Welcome to the Answers community.

From your post, we understand you would either like to have a drop-down menu of ID numbers/names for markers to select or perform validation to make sure a valid ID is entered.

In Microsoft Forms, for now, we do not have any setting or option to validate such info, but we can create a question with drop-down list. For this, select Choice option to create a question and then click the ellipses and select drop-down.

Regarding validation, we would like to invite you to provide your feedback in Microsoft Forms UserVoice and let the Product Group know about your requirement. UserVoice is the best way to give the feedback to Product Group as it’s actively monitored by them and many new features have been implemented from our customers feedback.

Thanks for your co-operation and understating.

With sincerest regards,

Neha
