Countdown timer using Macro is jumpy.

I have created a countdown timer for our church that will only be shown on about the first 10 slides. I used a VBA macro and while it works, there is a glitch. The first slide starts at 5:00, the second starts at 4:30 and so on. While it is counting down it "hangs" for second then resumes as it approaches the time to transition, it drops 3 or 4 seconds on the onscreen timer. After it transitions it is correct again until some time in the slide where it will do it again. Anyone had this happen and is there a fix?.
