Hi,

I have Windows 2012 DC. I need to rename an OU. I wonder if it is safe to rename it. Will it impact anything?

I also need to remove a parent OU. For example, I have Computer OU, under Computer OU I have Workstation OU, under Workstation OU I have Department A, Department B. I want to remove Workstation OU, put Department A, Department B OU under Computer OU directly. Is it safe to move Department A, Department B under Computer OU and delete Workstation OU?

Need help!

Thanks,

    Hi,

In general it is safe to rename or remove an Organizational Unit (OU), you should always double check what the OU contains first before doing any change.

You should first move the Department A and Department B OUs to their new place, then remove the Workstation OU.

One thing that this may affect are Group Policies (GPOs), you should double check the GPOs to check how they are applied and if these OU changes will affect the GPOs.

    Best regards,
    Leon
