Unexpected error message

I've been unsuccessful in creating a GroupMe account. Every time I enter my phone number and hit send to receive a PIN code, I get the same "unexpected error, please try again" error message.

I tried on my phone and laptop. CS has been unhelpful. Any suggestions? Groupme screenshot

    Hi Kevin,

So, this issue happens because of temporary service disruptions, app version conflicts, or SMS verification problems. GroupMe uses phone number verification, so delays in getting the PIN can cause this error.

To fix it, try clearing your cache, switching networks (like trying Wi-Fi instead of mobile data) , or using another browser or device. If you're not in the U.S., be sure your phone accepts international texts.

Updating the GroupMe app could also make a difference, or you could use the web version in incognito mode. If none of that works, just hang tight for about 24 to 48 hours and then reach out to GroupMe support. Here's the link if you need it. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/how-do-i-contact-groupme-customer-services-906e6ade-807e-46b3-ba6c-510cd01a0647

Just to better understand the situation, could you let me know if you’re using a local or international phone number? And have you received any PIN codes at all during your attempts?

Let me know how it goes. I will be more than happy to assist you.

    Regards,
    Carlo
