On a new PC, Windows 11 Professional, I have set it to log on to my Microsoft account. But I need to connect to the company's domain. I'm struggling to find a solution to change to a local account login. I tried many things unsuccessfully. Whatever I do, I still have the message that the device is joined to an AzureAD and that I have to disconnect the device from the professional or school network which is impossible so far. What can I do to solve this ? Thank you.

Hello Christophe,

When a Windows 11 Professional device is joined to Azure AD, it operates under cloud-based identity management, which prevents direct domain joins or switching to local accounts without first disconnecting from Azure AD. To resolve this, you'll need to:

Disconnect the device from Azure AD:

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
  • Select the connected Azure AD account and click Disconnect.
  • You may need admin credentials associated with the Azure AD tenant to complete this step.

Create a local account:

  • Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Other users.
  • Click Add account, then choose I don’t have this person’s sign-in information > Add a user without a Microsoft account.
  • Set up the local account and assign admin rights if needed.

Join the company domain:

  • After signing in with the local account, go to Settings > System > About > Domain or workgroup and select Join a domain.
  • Enter your domain credentials and restart the PC to complete the process.
