Authenticator app issue / Error code 500121

Question

I am having issues with the authenticator app.

I have added the email address to the authenticator app, however, when i try to access the https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ > Security info, i am asked to authenticate with the app and it gives me a code, but on the app i get the error code: 500121 and i never get the notifcation.

I am wondering if the authentication method needs to be reset or what i need to do?
