I had a certification from Microsoft Learning which was due for renewal on 15th of April. I had been preparing for the exam and was about to take the exam on 15th of April i.e. today. As I opened the certification page to take the exam, it showed that the certification is expired and I have to pay for it. It's still 15th of April here in India when I am writing this. I tried reaching out to the support via call but it was an AI bot on the other side of the call. I also tried live chat but all he suggested was links to open support tickets which log me out instead of giving password of one time time key via email. Not expecting much from Microsoft but at least give me 15th of April the day the certification was valid till, to renew the certification.

Credentials expire at the beginning of the date of expiry not the end. They expire at midnight UTC time zone. So you should have renewed on April 14th or much much earlier.

The renewal period is open for 180 days before your expiry date. The renewal window cannot be extended or reopened. There are no exceptions.

My certification expired. What happens now? If your certification expires, you must earn the certification again by passing the required exam(s).

It's still 15th of April in India. Open the window and i will give the exam right away.

My Microsoft certification showed an expiration date of 15 April.

I attempted to complete the renewal assessment on 15 April based on my local time in India (IST), but the certification was already marked expired due to UTC-based enforcement. The expiration occurred on the same calendar date displayed, without a clear indication that the deadline was strictly UTC-based.

I was actively prepared and am ready to take the renewal assessment immediately if it can be enabled. Requesting review and guidance for possible remediation.

It said the it expires on 15th, not 14th. I now understand that there are timezone limitations on the renewal date provided. In the future I will make sure to complete it way before the deadline date.
For this time can I get an extension of a couple of hours? I truly missed it because of the timezone confusion. As the last date specified was 15th I supposed it will be whole day in IST of the 15th.

Your certification expired at 1 minute past midnight UTC on 15th. Your assumption that it was the whole day was incorrect

Anyway you had 180 days to renew, why did you wait?

The renewal window cannot be extended or reopened. There are no exceptions.
