Hi team,

I am encountering a persistent issue when trying to create a new Azure Database for MySQL (Flexible Server) via the Azure Portal.

Issue Description:

Whenever I enter a server name in the "Server name" field during the creation process, the DevTools console reports a 502 error, and the portal fails to proceed. This issue has persisted since last night.

Error Details:

  • Service: Microsoft.DBforMySQL
  • Error Code: BadGatewayConnection
  • Status: 502
  • Message: "The network connectivity issue encountered for 'Microsoft.DBforMySQL'; cannot fulfill the request."

JSON Logs from DevTools:

{

  "error": {

    "code": "BadGatewayConnection",

    "message": "The network connectivity issue encountered for 'Microsoft.DBforMySQL'; cannot fulfill the request."

  }

}

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Go to "Create Azure Database for MySQL flexible server".
  2. Start typing a server name in the "Server name" input box.
  3. The validation fails with a 502 error in the background.

Could you please check if there is an ongoing service outage for the MySQL flexible server in Malaysia West region? I would like to be notified of the fix status.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Ian Wang

This appears to be related to a regional capacity or control‑plane issue impacting Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server deployments in the Malaysia West region.

As a workaround, you may continue provisioning in an alternate region such as Southeast Asia. If you would like to raise a support request for regional capacity tracking, you may do so using the link below:
https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support
Hope this helps, Please let us know if you have any questions and concerns.

    The behavior described (502 BadGatewayConnection when validating the server name in the portal) is not covered in the provided documentation. The context does not contain information about current outages, regional incidents, or this specific portal-side validation failure for Azure Database for MySQL flexible server in Malaysia West, nor any prescribed remediation steps for this exact error.
