i have microsoft 365 for MAC. How do I change endnotes from Roman numerals to Arabic numerals?

The dialog is there in Word for Mac. On the macOS menu bar (not the Ribbon), choose Insert>Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote dialog.

In Word for Microsoft 365 for Mac, endnote numbering format (Roman vs. Arabic) is controlled in the Footnote and Endnote settings.

To change endnotes from Roman numerals to Arabic numerals:

1. Open the document in Word for Mac.
2. Click where an endnote reference appears in the document body (any endnote is fine).
3. On the menu bar, select Insert > Footnote. This opens the Footnote and Endnote dialog box.
4. In the dialog, under the Endnotes section, locate the Number format setting.
5. Change the Number format from lowercase Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, …) to Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, …).
6. In the same dialog, choose whether to apply the change to the whole document or just the current section.
7. Select Insert (or Apply, depending on the dialog) to confirm the changes.

All endnotes in the chosen scope (document or section) will now display Arabic numerals.
