Hello Nazia Ashraf, happy to help clarify a couple of things here.

First — the Microsoft Store isn't missing on your PC; it was never part of Windows 7. The Store first shipped with Windows 8 in 2012, so on Win7 the only way to install programs is from a disc or by downloading the installer directly from the publisher's website.

Second, and more importantly: Windows 7 reached end of support on 2020. It hasn't received security or quality updates in over six years, which is why a lot of modern installers and games simply refuse to run on it now — missing TLS support, expired root certificates, or runtime requirements (newer .NET / Visual C++ / DirectX) that Win7 can't satisfy. The recommended path is to move to Windows 11 if your hardware supports it, or replace the PC.

If you'd still like to try installing something specific on Win7, could you share:

    • The exact program you're trying to install
    • The exact error message (a screenshot is ideal)
    • Whether it's from a disc or a downloaded installer

With that I can take a closer look. But please be aware that even if we get one program working, Win7 is no longer a safe platform to keep using day-to-day.

Windows 7 does not include the modern Microsoft Store app. Games and other programs are installed either from a disc (CD/DVD) or by downloading installers from the publisher’s website. If an error appears when installing a Microsoft game or mapping program from disc, the following supported methods can help:

    1. Delete temporary files
      1. Click Start.
      2. Type %temp% in the Start Search box and press Enter.
      3. In the window that opens, on the Organize menu select Select All.
      4. On the Organize menu select Delete, then click Yes.
      5. Try installing the game again.
    2. Try installing to a different folder or drive
      1. Insert the game disc in the drive.
      2. When setup starts, do not choose Express Install.
      3. Follow the setup menus until the Change button appears and click Change.
      4. In the Path box, delete the existing path and enter, for example: D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\GameName (replace D: with the desired drive letter and GameName with the game’s name).
      5. Click OK, then continue the setup and complete the installation.
    3. Install Windows Updates and required components
      1. Click Start > All Programs > Windows Update.
      2. Click Check for updates.
      3. After the check completes, click View available updates or Important updates are available.
      4. Select all important updates and click Install.
      5. Restart if prompted, then try the game installation again.
Some games require Windows components such as .NET Framework, Visual C++ runtimes, or DirectX. Installing all important Windows Updates helps ensure these components are correctly installed.

If the error occurs when installing from a CD/DVD and persists after these steps, the disc or drive may be damaged. In that case, test the disc as described in the Xcopy method from the context, or obtain a replacement disc if needed.
