Sharepoint Migration Tool uplaods files exceeding the quota

I'm trying to upload a couple of shared folders to the business sharepoint site using SPMT. The available quota of the site is 50GB, the files i want to transfer are 54GB. The issue is that the tool doesnt stop at 50GB but continues uploading all 54 GB, without giving an error message, and thus clogging up the sharepoint site. I haven't found any information on the SPMT site, can anyone help me?

    Please have a check on your site storage here. You shall be able to see the used storage of the site. You can have a try to managed the storage limit of site with issue like this doc said: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/manage-site-collection-storage-limits

    If that does not help, you may need to open a Microsoft support ticket. And you can post in this forum. There are experts who may provide useful advice.
