how to fix Excel LTSC 2021 install problem, error code 0-2048(0)

when I start the installation of excel LTSC 2021 I have an error message that comes out 0-2048 (0)

I deactivated the firewall, I uninstalled all office products, I tested the installation on another machine, it gives the same error

Make sure that you are in the folder and re-run the command. c:\temp\office2021\setup /download configuration.xml don't try to just double-click on the setup file without downloading the files.

If you want to install office, you should disable BitLocker

I know no one probably check this post anymore but im adding answer out there for anyone that has this issue in the future that found this post.
After the Office folder has been downloaded follow step below instead

Command Prompt as admin > enter "cd C:\ODT" (the command prompt path will change to "C:\ODT" )> then "setup.exe /configure" <your xml filename >.xml (such as "setup.exe /configure InstallofficebusRet64.xml"

Dont ask me why this work. Something changed and the installation steps are outdated.

Looks like the installer only works if you run the setup.exe /configure <configuration.xml> command inside an elevated command prompt.

For better analysis, I want to confirm more information.

How did you install Excel LTSC 2021? If you install it via ODT and configuration file (.xml), please make sure the ODT is the newest one, and share us with the .xml file.

Where did you get the installation files when installing this Excel LTSC 2021? Such as from Internet (Microsoft CDN) or local source that you have pre-downloaded.

As you said you uninstalled all products, what Office products are installed on the device before? Please run Microsoft 365 uninstall support tool to have a check.

I launch the installation via ODT, I retrieve the ODT from Microsoft admin center Billing> your products> software> Excel LTSC 2021 after I download the odt file OfficeDeploymentTool2021MultiLanguage32-bitWinand64-bitWinX22-74224

To uninstall the previous version I used the Microsoft 365 Uninstall Support Tool

Thanks for your details.

I have tested your .xml file, and I can install Office LTSC 2021, Visio 2021 and Project 2021 successfully. But you said you installed Excel LTSC 2021, so, I want to confirm which version of Office do you want to install?

I still suggest you download ODT from Microsoft Download Center directly.

Beside, please go to %temp% folder, find the installation log files, which are called like : computer name-date-number.log.
