New Outlook preview - unread & flagged email folders?

Hi I started using the new Outlook preview today, however have promptly stopped as two key features (for me) are really clunky There is no longer a separate folder for unread mail, nor seemingly an easy way to configure one. the filter option is limited as unless I am missing it, I can't then sort the view easily once I have filtered my inbox Secondly, I am a keen user of follow up flags for a number of reasons. Again, visibility and sort-ability of these is really poor. I can filter to flagged messages, but I then want to be able to sort it to due date, and I don't want to have to do this every time I wish to see my "to action" list Am I missing something, or have these features been removed and streamlined? If they have, I feel this is a really poor decision, as it should be users choice on how to arrange/view their mail Thanks in advance

Looks like you have to re-create it. Easy to do. Scroll to the bottom of your folder list in outlook. There is a "Search Folders" there, right click on it and click "Create a new search folder". Choose a search folder of "Unread mail". It should show up right under the Search Folders. Then you can right click on the new folder and add it to favorites.

You can go to search folders and right-click it to create a new search folder.

Create the "Flagged for follow-up" folder.

Right-click that folder, and save it as a favorite.

    Hi @Michael Smith ,

    Thanks for your reply!

According to your description, i understand that you are not satisfied about the current filter options in New Outlook preview. And based on my research, i got the same result as yours. I'm afraid the filter options in legacy Outlook are not all available in New Outlook preview.

Please kindly understand that many functions are not designed at present. To get this feature more quickly, I have found a post in feedback collection website and you could vote for it. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. You can also make suggestions on that website and hope Microsoft will notice this in the future. Thank you for your understanding and support.

In typical MS move, they hide frequently used things just to mess with people and assert their brain control on us. But, here's the answer: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/view-only-unread-messages-in-outlook-f2c8450c-9cd0-4037-a5d3-26f6946727ca#OfficeVersion=Monarch

    1. In Mail, select the folder you want to filter for unread messages.
    2. Near the upper right corner of the message list, select  The Filter icon.

     Filter > Unread.

Tip: The name of the filter button changes to Unread to indicate which filter is applied. When you want to remove the filter so that you can see all the messages in the current folder, simply click the  The Unread Mail filter symbol.

     Unread filter button.

    Thanks.
