I'm attempting to do an in-place upgrade from Server 2012 R2 to Server 2019, but Windows is telling me there is a NIC Team that needs to be deleted before I can proceed.
Problem is, there is no NIC Team showing up anywhere.
And the cmdlets don't appear to work either.
I started deleting anything referencing a team or lbfo from the registry after I was getting nowhere, but that didn't work either. (this is a cloned server for testing the upgrade)
I'm at my wit's end and it's imperative that we perform an in-place upgrade due to the software on this machine.
Any ideas on what I can do?

I just ran into same issue, did you ever find a solution?
Not yet. I'm going to probably be creating some firewall rules to isolate this server as much as possible until I can figure out a solution.

Hi, I did not have any team and got the same error, so that, I created a Team and immediately I deleted the team, now I can continue with the Windows upgrade.
Hi Nerio, the server doesn't list the network adapter under the team management, so I'm unable to create a new team. I've isolated the server from the internet, so I'll probably just continue using it the way it is for now.

Hi There,
I forgot to mention that I ran the command to show hidden devices (set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1), went into Device Manager, then clicked showed hidden devices, and deleted everything that was there except the one network adapter that's being used, but that didn't alleviate the problem.
There is no Broadcom software installed on the system.
Anything else I might try?

Just ran into this problem and could not find a solution anywhere. The fix is actually simple :
Unfortunately, I have not found a solution.
I previously tried removing the server from the NIC Teaming area under server manager, as Jurgen mentioned worked for them, but had no luck. I tried it again on a newly cloned VM, and had the same results.

Try to remove all network cards in Device Manager and restart.
I previously removed all network card devices and drivers from the system with no success.
