Is there a replacement for Azure Media Services or Is Microsoft Leaving this Market?

We are just looking to introduce audio/video streaming into Power Apps apps. I see Azure Media Services as an option but see it is to be retired June 2024 and that we should use Partners solutions. Is Microsoft looking to leave this space then? Are there options for us to build our own based on any Azure components, what are the partners using?

Thanks

Ant

@Anthony Brown Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Yes, Media services are going to retried starting from 30 June 2024. You need to migrate to a Microsoft partner solution for your on-demand encoding, live streaming, on-demand streaming, and content protection workflows and to Azure Video Indexer for your audio and video analysis workflows.

Refer to this detailed documentation about the retirement guide of Azure Media Services and also other different Partner solutions that are available to migrate.

Feel free to reach back to me if you have any further questions on this.

It's natural for technology landscapes to evolve over time, and the cloud services market is no exception. While Azure Media Services has been a significant player in the video streaming and media delivery space, Microsoft's strategic shifts and product offerings can change. It's important to keep an eye on the latest updates from Microsoft, as they may have introduced new services or integrated media capabilities into other products.

Additionally, there are several other robust video streaming and content delivery platforms available in the market, so if Azure Media Services no longer aligns with your needs, there are alternative solutions to explore some of them are VPlayed, Wowza, AWS, VdoCipher. Stay informed and consider your specific requirements to find the best fit for your streaming and media needs.

After the retirement of Azure media services, its customers can use AWS as its alternative to migrate your media workloads from AppSquadz and VideoCrypt.
