Looping on logging into Enterprise account - told it's an Azure issue

I apolgize if I'm not asking this in the right forum, but I don't know what to do. Here's the history of my issue:

  1. I was able to log into my work related enterprise accounts until about three days ago on my MacBook pro. At that point, I got into a loop on my computer, asking me to sign in, give my PW, than it was supposed to send me a text confirmation, but consistently get 500121 error code.
  2. Called my company's IT department who said they couldn't help, since (1) I was able to get on through my windows computer. They don't service Apple. (2) I can also access through my iPad, so the issue is my late 2020 MacBook pro.
  3. I reinstalled Outlook, which got me access to my work emails again (good for that). but no access to server.
  4. I called Apple who said that the issue was on the Microsoft end.
  5. I couldn't find (or understand) a solution online and couldn't get phone service.
  6. So I signed up for a small business account with service. I talked to any agent who was actually on service that I could have accessed somehow. She was no help.
  7. Got transferred to small business service who couldn't do anything for me. He told me to set up an Azure account.

Now I have an azure account, but don't have ANY idea how to fix this. I trust there's someone here that knows how to break through the employer -- computer -- server -- azure cycle. I'm a very computer end-user, using them in some way for about 60 years as an end user, but I'm in an endless loop. Any of the following would help me:

  1. What can I tell my employer's IT department that they may easily try to break the loop to the mac that isn't affecting my Window's computer?
  2. What can I do in Azure, which I know nothing above, that would correct this problem?
  3. What can I do through deleting files in the Library or doing something in the terminal to fix this?

I'm stuck and could use any help that someone could provide.

Thank you for any suggestions. Please be as non-technical as possible. Think of me as an advanced intermediate, but know little about diving under the hood!

    Hi @Michael Halperin

    Welcome to our forum!

Looks like the issue is more related to Azure, please kindly understand that the Outlook tag here we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook desktop client. The following is for informational purposes only.

Based on my search, this seems to be an MFA error code. This typically occurs when authentication fails in a multi-factor authentication (MFA) request, which can indicate a configuration or service error. To resolve this issue, can you try resetting (requiring re-registration) of MFA for the user. With this user will be asked to re-register for MFA. Once the registration is done for user, you can again try to login, and it should be successful.

Note: You will have to use global admin account to login to Azure portal and select the option "require re-register MFA".

    Hope this helps!

    SokiGuo,

Thank you for your response. It turned out that the issue was simpler than playing with Azure. I unlocked the security on my Mac, which had not been suggested by Apple or Microsoft, rebooted, and things work fine. I hate when the big companies suggest solutions that complicate, not simplify, the work for the end user. I appreciate your input.

    Thank you,

    Mike
