We have a vendor providing us with Direct routing for Teams phone.

Vendor is advising us to add a domain from a FQDN that they use to our M365 tenant domains , which will be required while adding the SBC in our MS Team admin page. Vendor will add the TXT records on their end for the domain to be verified in our tenant.

Is this normal for vendor to use their own domain when they are providing SBCs and any issues or concerns I should take into account before adding the domain.

    Hi @curious7

To validate that you own either the domain part of your SBC FQDN, or entire SBC FQDN, you need to add a TXT record to your DNS zone. The carrier can add the TXT records on their end for the domain to be verified in your tenant. This is a normal practice for vendors who provide SBCs and telephony services to multiple customers.

Some issues or concerns that you should take into account before adding the domain are:

    • Make sure the domain name portion of the SBC FQDN matches a domain that’s registered in your tenant.
    • If using a subdomain, make sure this subdomain is also registered in your tenant.

Hope the above information is helpful for you!
