Active OneDrive slows down entire AVD environment

Our client is using AVD for about 5 weeks in 'production' now. It is a smaller company with about 40 users. We have 6 VM's in AVD (D4s_v5) in use at the moment. We have tried D8s_v5 without any improvement.
We have the following issues:
But we see memory and cpu usage at high levels most of the time with OneDrive at the top of the processes. Every server feels sluggish at the moment. Starting Excel takes about 30-40 seconds, Word about the same time. Opening a Word document takes about 20-25 seconds to open and opening folders from the right (yes only the right pane) in explorer takes about 7-15 seconds per folder.

All those folders are folders from SharePoint document libraries.
It doens't matter if a folder is fully synced with the server or it isn't.

We are using FSlogic with profiles stored on azure.

I was reading a blog of Christian Brinkhoff about almost the same kind of issues but can't really pinpoint the exact cause or find a solution for this issue.

Can you help me out?

No update - no solution. A bug that's present for over 5 months now. No solutions from MS, only new OneDrive clients which solved the issues for about 3 minutes.....
We have decided to move from OneDrive/SharePoint storage tot Azure storage.
That works fine. But the client lost all the M365 functions with that.

    Hi Karishma!

    • The users and hosts are located in West-Europe (Netherlands)
    • FSLogix storage is in the same region.
    • We will have a look into removing the libraries - it's a production environment so this could be an inssue. Will let you know.

We have the exact same Issue, every click in onedrive is slow. At best 8 seconds, worst case 30 seconds for every click (folder or file). Other profile folders are fast, so it doenst seem to be related to FS logix profile disk). Only the onedrive folder are slow!

    • Windows 11 Multisession
    • FS Logix on Azure Storage
    • WE only use onedrive at this point for personal storage, not yet for company files.
    • Recently reinstalled the AVD VM's, seemed ok, after a while Onedrive folder are slow again (rest is fast
    • Running on E8s_v5 VM's (amount of users doesnt matter for onedrive performance)

Pretty sure this is a bug... unfortunatly it hasnt been fixed for 3 month now..

    Hi All,

Firstly anyone get an update on this - we have exactly the same issue.

AVD deployed in April, Multi-Session Windows 11. Latest updates for Windows and 4 pooled avd's with approx 20 users.

Clicking folders in left hand side of explorer is normal but in the main window slow to open subsequent folders. PDf's are fast but word and excel are taking about 10-40 seconds to open.

Disabled AntiVirus and still the same
All others applications are working as normal.

One thing I did note was when in Word or Excel and then navigating to One drive the speed is normal, so seems like a Onedrive/File Explorer issue to me. I also opened cmd prompt and opened files from Onedrive at normal speed.

    Regards

    Joe

I have a client who has exactly these symptoms. Too slow browsing in Windows Explorer through the OneDrive folders. Browsing over drive C and mapped network drives works perfectly. Opening a file from OneDrive takes a lot of time.

Using OneDrive client: 24.111.0602.0003 which is the latest at time of writing.

The release notes are simple: We've resolved product issues to improve the reliability and performance of the OneDrive sync app.
