Windows 11 TaskBar move to Left Right and Top are Missing!

There is not option to move the taskbar to left, right or top of the screen in Windows 11!

The alignment setting moves the taskbar to the left of the bottom of the screen. However, what I (and it seems the original poster) want is to move it to the side of the screen, vertically, as we could in previous versions.

Just moved to Windows 11 and surprise, I can't have it the way I want.

With screens that are 16:9 (if not 100:1) it consumes much more pixels to have the taskbar down than on the side.

I will use the autohide option but this is not practical.

Once again, it was better before.

I do not get it why moving taskbar to the right has been disabled. It is so inconvenient and frustrating. You are simplifying everything too much it makes your user experience worse instead of better. For example new Outlook is barely usable, it misses so many options, I had to switch back to old one to be able to use full functionality.

Also finding this frustrating - my brain doesn't work to have the task bar at the bottom - it clutters the vertical space. Why has this option been removed - less personalisation instead of more.

This is so incredibly frustrating! What a dumb thing to get rid of. Why fix what's not broken? I relied on the task bar being vertical on the left side of my screen (NOT aligned on the left side of the bottom) for my work and now it's making my job much more difficult. Do better, Microsoft.

Right on! So many times the taskbar won't hide and blocks the key info needed, especially in Excel!!

it always a few years for Microsoft to realize their mistakes and fix it, like taskbar.

I already clicked "I have this same question" but I wanted to add that this option was a great item for many of us it seems. Is there a way to determine if this is already documented as a "want" or is it on a future update release tracker? Thanks!

To move TaskBar left go to TaskBar settings> TaskBar alignment. In tat setting change Center to left.

That doesn't move the TaskBar itself to the left of the screen for me: it just moves the icons on the TaskBar to the left of the bar. I believe the OP wanted the TaskBar to be vertically aligned on the left of the screen, something that was drag & drop in Windows 10.

This is not the correct answer. The question ask how to move the taskbar to the left or right, not how to align the buttons.

I think all the questions above are about moving the entire taskbar. For example, I have always put the taskbar at the top of the screen. I am no longer able to do it in the latest Windows version. I can only move the alignment of the icons on the task bar either left or centered.

Try https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher. I found this tool from https://pureinfotech.com/move-taskbar-top-side-windows-11/ and it works perfectly on my Win 11.
