How do I configure an IP address for a specific country (Taiwan) for my VM?

I have an application that runs on an Azure VM that requires an IP address from Taiwan since a webpage the application is visiting only accepts Taiwan IPs. I tried creating a new IP and VPN gateway but they only allow me to specify the Region (in my case East Asia) and not the specific country. As a result, when I tested my application, it did not work because the public IP was from Hong Kong. I tried looking into Edge Zones but it seems like Taiwan does not have one either. I was wondering how I can make my application work with a Taiwan IP address. Am I missing something or will my application just not work on Azure VMs? Do I have to try another Azure resource?

I also saw that Microsoft previously said that a datacenter was scheduled to be finished in Taiwan but have not seen anything more about it. https://local.microsoft.com/blog/nangong-road-datacenter-construction-update/

Was just curious if there were any updates?

    Hello,

To address your Azure VM IP issue, it’s important to note that Azure regions are generally tied to specific geographic areas, and while you can select a region like East Asia, you cannot specify a country within that region for the IP address allocation. If you require an IP address specifically from Taiwan, and the Azure services currently do not offer this, you might need to consider alternative solutions such as:

Using a third-party VPN service that provides a Taiwan IP address.

Contracting with a local cloud provider in Taiwan that can offer you the required IP address.

Regarding the Microsoft datacenter in Taiwan, the latest information available indicates that Microsoft has begun construction on the datacenter projects in the North Taiwan area, with the first building estimated to be completed in 2024. However, the completion of construction does not necessarily indicate the datacenter’s operation or availability. It’s best to keep an eye on official Microsoft updates for the most current information regarding the datacenter’s operational status.

For your application to work with a Taiwan IP address on Azure VMs, you may need to wait until the Taiwan datacenter becomes operational or explore the alternative options mentioned above. It’s also advisable to reach out to Azure support for any potential solutions they might offer or updates on the Taiwan datacenter’s availability.my pasco connect
