Can SharePoint give me the audit events that are similar to a poduct we used in the past - picture attached of product.

Hello,

We have been asked by our users if we can provide audit events such as the following in SharePoint online sharing portal sites when they share to external users:

  • Who they shared the file or folder with (shows email address of the external user)
  • What time, date it was sent
  • Who sent it, so internal users first and last and email address
  • IP address of every entry
  • When external recipient accesses the file or folder there should be an entry to show their email address
  • all the above should have a date and timestamp as this is very important

I want to see if this is possible without third party add-ons and if Sharepoint can be developed out of the box with customizations that are built-in but just need to be activated or turned on.

If it is only basic features like email address only, then can you suggest a bolt-on that will give the above or what I have shared with our previous product audit events in the example picture?

I have attached an example of a software we used in the past that uses the above audit events and puts them in one neat tab which is what the above is asking for.

    Hi, @GeorgeO-2843 ,

For the out of the box audit log, you can go to the Microsoft 365 Compliance Center in Admin center. You can do the audit log search for different events. Quite similar to your screenshot. Here is a sample:

You can turn it on or off easily. For actual steps, please refer to this:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/turn-audit-log-search-on-or-off?view=o365-worldwide

For more detailed information about this feature, you can check this doc:
