.NET 6.0 not installing

Hi,

I'm having an error installing .NET Host 6.0.33 (x64) its having errors installing 'dotnet-host-6.0.26-win-x64.msi'. Here are some screenshots User's image

Hi @V O ,

Try using the .NET uninstall tool to remove any remnants of previous installations. It will help clean up orphaned or broken installations.

Alternatively, use the Control Panel -> Programs and Features and try to uninstall .NET Host - 6.0.26 (x64) manually.

Download the latest Microsoft .NET Hosting Bundle and try installing it directly. This might fix missing components or corrupted installation packages.

Go to C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\ and locate the folder with the given GUID 87EBA554-.... If you find the folder, manually delete it. Then uninstall .NET Host - 6.0.26 (x64).

Hi @V O .If the specific folder (C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\87EBA554-...) does not exist, clearing the program cache is not necessary at this point.

The error suggests that the MSI (Microsoft Installer) for version 6.0.26 might be corrupt or incomplete.

1.You could manually uninstall .NET Host - 6.0.26 (x64), if it exists.

2.Clear Temp Files: Run Disk Cleanup to clear temporary files that might interfere with the installation.

Alternatively, manually clear the C:\Windows\Temp folder and %TEMP% folder.

Download the latest .NET 6 Hosting Bundle from Microsoft's official site and attempt installation again.

4.Run Install as Administrator:

Right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator to ensure it has sufficient permissions.

5.Check for Pending Windows Updates:

Sometimes, missing Windows updates can cause issues with MSI installations. Ensure your system is fully updated.

I've started to getting exactly the same issue after my system were updated to win11. Please notice that installator is trying to install the previous version of .NET Host. It is trying to install .NET Host 6.0.33 (x64), but asks about 6.0.24 which obviously wasn't a part of that installator package. The question is - why is that happening? I've checked the installation logs and it appears that during an attempt of dotnet_host_6.0.33_win_x64.msi installation, there is an issue:
Error 0x80070643: Failed to install MSI package.

I may only guess at this point installator is trying to install previous version of that package which is causing above issue. I have exactly the same issue with other version of runtimes as well in which .NET Host is keep failing to get installed.

What is causing that issue?
