We received dozens of Dell Latitude 5550 computers and deployed Windows 11 22H2 to them. Most of them completed the task sequence without any error, but only 3 of them failed with this error:

Task sequence 'Win11 22H2 TS' has failed with the error code 0x800700A1. For more information, contact your system administrator or helpdesk operator.

The computers are exactly the same, but the results are different, weird! Do you have any ideas?

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft MECM Q&A forum.

1,Firstly, please help check the smsts.log between the working and non-working computers to see if there is any useful information.

2,The error code 0x800700A1 means "The specified path is invalid". The reason we get this error may be if the task sequence cannot find the path because the drive is RAW. In this case, it’s always recommended to format the disk partition before deploying Windows Image to help us avoid unwanted issues.

You may try to format the disk partition follow this article:

3,Please also check the BIOS settings. Are they set to AHCI/NVMe or RAID?

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon
