Is there a way to get the Windows Sysinternals Autoruns Tool to display ALL the registry entries that affect an autorun?

I am trying to diagnose why none - not even one - of my startups apps set up in the registry are NOT starting, even though Autoruns (and Task Manager and other such tools) indicate that they are ENABLED. This problem affects only MY user account, but not others.

There are other keys and values in the registry that affect startup apps other than just HKCU...\Run and HKLM...\Run, such as:

  • HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\AutorunsDisabled
  • HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\Run
  • HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\StartupFolder
  • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\Run
  • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\Run32
  • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartupApproved\StartupFolder
  • HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveAutoRun
  • HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun
  • others???

I've looked at all of these directly in the Registry Editor, but still I can't find the problem. I've tried re-installing apps. But there is STILL something I am missing. I think there might be just one key, value, or setting that prevents ALL startup apps in the registry from being started. And I was hoping that Autoruns would show it.

In the mean time, I am forced to put links to apps to my Startup folder.

I was hoping that there is a way to get Autoruns to do more than just list the primary registry entries. That it would analyze everything that would affect whether an autorun was fully enabled or not, and list all the keys and values (and settings) that Windows uses to decide whether to run the app at login or not.

If anyone would know everything about how Windows Startups Apps work, I was thinking it might be the Windows Sysinternals people themselves!

Thanks,

---Mark
