I am experiencing an issue where changes made to one file in Notepad are reflected in a different file. For example, when I open notepad_30 and make a change, it updates notepad_20 instead. Additionally, when I try to open notepad_40, it opens notepad_20 instead. What could be causing this issue?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are a few potentials causes you can try to troubleshoot:

    1. Ensure that the shortcuts or links you are using to open the files are correctly pointing to the intended files. Sometimes, shortcuts can get corrupted and point to the wrong file.
    2. Run a disk check to ensure there are no file system errors.

Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:

    chkdsk /f

    1. Clear any temporary files or cache that Notepad might be using. You can do this by restarting your computer or using a tool like Disk Cleanup.
    2. Check the file associations for .txt files. Sometimes, incorrect file associations can cause issues. Go to Settings > Apps > Default apps and ensure that Notepad is set as the default app for .txt files.
    3. If the issue persists, it might be related to your user profile. Try creating a new user account and see if the issue occurs there as well.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,
