· Which version of Windows Vista is installed on your computer?
· Is your printer connected to any network or home group?
· How is the printer connected to the computer?
· Have you restarted the computer after installing the drivers of the printer?
Method 1
Run the “Fix it” tool from the link given below. It will automatically diagnose and repairs problems with printing, installing a printer.

Method 2
Check if the status of print spooler service is started. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Double-click Services. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Properties.
3. On the General tab, next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
4. If the service is not already running, under Service status, click Start, and then click OK. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Method 3
Download and install the latest printer drivers from manufacturer’s website.

Method 4
If the printer is connected through USB, try to connect the printer to some other USB port and check if that helps.
