I am researching how to setup multi factor authentication for windows logins. I am looking for suggestions for the easiest/best solution to add additional security for remote access. I selected Windows 10 below, but we need to do this on servers as well, 2008R2, 2012, 2012R2, 2016, 2019.

Hi, I'm Robinson, an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you.

Please check this link, to see how to configure additional authentication methods and a list of Microsoft and third-party providers with MFA offerings currently available for AD FS in Windows Server.

I am researching how to setup multi factor authentication for windows logins.

Multifactor Authentication is used to help identify you to websites. It's not used for signing in to Windows. To see the many ways that you can sign in to Windows, go to Start menu > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

For remote access, most organizations use a VPN because, in addition to providing secure access, it encrypts the data in-transit. MFA doesn't do that.
