Teams Android: Cannot remove Teams background image anymore

Hi,

For some time now, I cannot seem to remove the background image for my video anymore.

I am able to find the 'change background' option, and various default teams backgrounds show for me to choose them and I can select them. However:

  • Whenever I select the 'no-background' option on my Android Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+), it still shows a custom image that I once set to be used in Teams, but no longer want to use and which does not anymore show up in the list of custom images in Teams.
  • Whenever I try the 'blur background' option, it blurs the before mentioned custom image.
  • Whenever I select another background from the list, I can see that just around my face, the custom background image is still visible. So it seems to only use my background image, even if I select another image, it shows it on top of this unwanted image.

How to get rid of this? Can I remove the custom image from a folder on my device somewhere? Is there another option that I should try?

I am using Teams in a corporate environment, so can it be that my organization requires to have at least a blurred background or background image set and that that causes the persistent image?

I hope someone can help me.

    Hi God'sWill,

I tried every step in your post twice, but still the picture is not removed from the background.

    • I have cleared the cache and also all other files
    • I have deleted the app twice, and reinstalled it twice, but still the picture is appearing.

Strange behavior if you ask me. Mostly also because the picture that I used to use is no longer on my device.

I did notice however, that when you select a file from your device, it does not use the default 'My Files' app from my device, but instead it seems to use some kind of file browser inside the Teams app. Can that be the problem? Is it actually using the file browser from let's say OneDrive? Then I maybe should try to remove OneDrive and clear the cache of that?

I have checked another device, but the picture does not show up on that device.

I'm sorry there is no other solution for now than you changing the download source from "Play store" to "Samsung App store"

Yeah, like I said, this is not really a solution for me as it is not available for me. Thanks for the help though.

I assume that the issue happening in Microsoft Teams on the Play Store is still a valid bug of the application. Instead of working around it by installing a different version of Teams from a different (not so widely used to my opinion) app store will not be the solution for many people I assume.

As you mentioned: "there has been some problem lately on teams app downloaded on playstore to Samsung device". Can you be a bit more specific? Can I find information on this anywhere? If not, is there any way that I can report a bug with the Microsoft Teams team?

    Hi,

    Thanks for reaching out.
My name is God'swill, I'll be happy to help you today.

Since you said you're using the mobile app, I'll advice you clear teams cache with the steps below then try uninstalling and reinstall the app.

    CLEAR TEAMS CACHE

    1. Navigate to Settings, select Applications, and then Manage Applications.
    2. Select Teams from the list of apps, and tap Storage.
    3. Then tap the Clear Cache button.

NOTE: You're advice to use the Samsung app store in the process of downloading and reinstalling the app as there has been some problem lately on teams app downloaded on playstore to Samsung device.

Please be sure to let me know if you need more help as I'll be glad to do so.

    Regards...
    God'sWill

I'll like to be sure if you use the Samsung app store in the process of reinstalling as that has been some recent cases from Samsung devices.

Sorry, I am not able to use Teams from the Samsung Store instead of from the Play Store. I have a personal device that is managed by my company with Knox and Intune, which allows me to only use Play Store apps that are approved from my organization's Enterprise Play Store setup.

I will try to install Teams later from the Samsung App store, but I think I will not be able to use that for business meetings.

    Any other solutions for me?
