Hi Pietro, my name is Neil, I'm an independent expert adviser for Microsoft and a Windows user like you.

I understand your concern over this, but rest assured, you can safely ignore the email. These codes are sent out as a secondary layer of security when requesting things like changes to your account.

It could simply be that someone with a very similar email address entered the wrong email address.

Even if it was someone trying to gain access to your account, this is the very reason these codes are sent out so they cannot gain access. Only the account holder receives these codes.

If the email itself is a scam, please do not click on any of the links in the email. It's always best if you ignore these emails if you have not requested or are not aware of any security codes being sent out.
