co-authoring and excel macros

I have an Excel spreadsheet that has macros in it. I would like to buy Office 365 so I can use co-authoring. However, I read from few articles that co-authoring does not support macros-enabled spreadsheets. However, some articles say that co-authoring works with Excel. Could anyone please confirm this as this is the prime reason why I would purchase Office 365.

I rang Microsoft. They want to charge me four hundred something dollars to speak to the technicians for a query that as simple as: "Does co-authoring support macro-enabled spreadsheets?" This is ridiculous!! You'd expect more from Microsoft.

If I don't have this query answered ASAP, I am definitely leaving a very bad review.

Again:

VBA will only run if the file is opened in Excel for Windows desktop and any changes that the VBA code makes to the workbook will be treated as changes made by the author of that session.

Hello,

co-authoring works with macro-enabled files. See this article for details.

No. That link is from March this year. Since then Co-authoring has been made available to the regular channels, too, as you can see in the second link I posted above. Here it is again:

    That link applies to

"Applies To: SharePoint Online Office for business SharePoint Foundation 2013 More..."

and the new co-authoring for Office 365 that was released earlier this year is not related to that. Here is another article about the new co-authoring experience, where it again lists .xlsm files as one possible file format.

Co-authoring embraces all kinds of platforms, i.e. browser, mobile, iOS devices and Windows desktop (not Mac). VBA will only run if the file is opened in Excel for Windows desktop and any changes that the VBA code makes to the workbook will be treated as changes made by the author of that session.

    Hi Teylyn,

    Thanks for your reply.

I understand that co-authoring supports macro-enabled files, in the sense that if you have a macro-enabled file, you can still co-author it.

However, I read so many articles that say that the macros will not function, but the file will still be usable. Even Microsoft has an article that says that co-authoring only support .xlsx files without VBA, but not sure if that's an old.

Are you able to confirm that?

    Thanks alot
