Help please - All my word documents have been automatically converted to PDF on my PC. When I save a word document in word with .docx it automatically converts into PDF and I don't want it to. Any suggestions on how to stop this. I am using windows 10 Pro, 64 bit. Office 365

What makes you think that they have been converted to pdf if they still have a .docx extension?

If you start Word and then use File>Open and select one of the documents, what happens?  If a message appears, what does it say?

If you send me a copy of one of the documents, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

    Sorry Doug,

All my files have been converted to pdf even though they have .docx extentions. I click on them in safe mode but they wont open in word. I couldn't find the section in your KnowledgeBase article. Any other ideas?

    Thanks

Are you saying that the file is being saved with a .pdf extension?

Does the same thing happen if you start Word in safe mode by holding down the CTRL key while starting Word until asked to confirm that you want to start it in that mode.

If not, see the section dealing with Add-Ins in the KnowledgeBase article "How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word" at:
