Our client is getting a runtime 2046 error when getting into Access and opening a file/db. The file is on a shared drive, and is accessible from another machine, but when he tries on his, any button he presses gives him that runtime error.

I ran a search for the error message for error code 2046. It appears to be associated with multiple errors. Specifically, what is the error message your user gets with this error code?

It appears that one possibility is that the shared drive is not designated as a Trusted Location for that user. So, another thing we'd need to know is whether this process previously worked for this user. If so, and this is a recently occurring problem, what else changed in that user's environment?

There should be additional information about the error such as “can’t perform… now”. We need more details.

Is the file in a trusted location? Do other Access apps work?
