Hi All,
I am getting this error when searching from SP Online to SP on-prem using service account. But when using my account I was able to perform search.
take note that we have the same permission of the service account on the SP Online site and SP On-prem web applications.
Can you advise what to check on this.

Make sure that the service account has at least read permission for the root site collection of SharePoint Online.

Thank you for your response.
The site is newly deployed on SP Online and I noticed that out 5 user who tested the search, only 2 user can query on SP on-prem.
the 3 users is getting the same error. We have the same setup in DEV and UAT but I did not experience it there.
This happens only on Production. I made the 3 users as Site Collection Admin but still same results.
This is very frustrating now.
PLease try to remove the affected users from the UserInfo list then add again to compare the result.
1.Browse to the site and edit the URL by adding the following string to the end of it: /_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=0
2.Select the person from the list, and then on the Actions menu, select Delete Users from Site Collection.
