Intel Integrated Graphics interfering with NVIDIA

I have a problem with my Acer Nitro 5 Laptop (RTX 3050ti ; i7-11800H ; 16GB RAM), running on Windows 10 (latest update). My Intel integrated graphics are interfering with my Nvidia. When gaming, it uses 2-15% power while my Nvidia uses 60-85%. When not in game, the only thing that changes is that Nvidia uses 0-5%. I tried installing different drivers, updating BIOS and it always starts working normally at the beginning. One day later, huge FPS drops and in worst case stutters. I have this problem for around half a year now. Also, both the CPU and GPU are not overheating. I tried most basic methods (changing the power plan, prefering Nvidia over Intel etc.). I think the mess is caused by Windows.

Sounds good. Before you start, check your battery level and plug in the charger so the process finishes without interruption. The repair install should run smoothly and keep your files and apps in place.

I’ll be here when you’re ready with your update.

I understand. If you already saved the most important files to your USB, the repair install through the Media Creation Tool is still the safest option that keeps your apps and games.

Run the tool, choose Upgrade this PC now, then select Keep personal files and apps. The process overwrites system files without wiping your data. Make sure nothing interrupts the installation and avoid forcing a shutdown while it runs.

Good choice. Before you start, did you already back up your important files to OneDrive or an external drive, just to stay safe?

The Media Creation Tool will let you run a repair install of Windows 10 while keeping your files and apps. Download the tool from the official Microsoft page, run the setup, pick Upgrade this PC now, then select Keep personal files and apps. The process replaces system files and often fixes performance issues without removing your games or programs.

Since you prefer to stay on Windows 10, this is the supported path to refresh your system without moving to Windows 11.

Thanks for the update, that helps. Are you planning to keep using Windows 10 long term, or are you open to moving to Windows 11 if needed?

Windows 10 Media Creation Tool still works today for an in-place repair install, and this keeps your files, apps, and games. This process is officially supported by Microsoft as long as the tool is still available. End of support does not block the tool from running or completing a repair install. It only stops security updates. Since you already installed the last Windows 10 update, an in-place repair using the Media Creation Tool will reinstall the system files over your current setup and keep your data. You only need to choose Keep personal files and apps during setup.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Did you add your game to Settings, System, Display, Graphics and set it to High performance for the NVIDIA GPU?

Windows uses Optimus on this laptop, so you need to confirm the game is assigned to the right GPU, update Windows through Windows Update, then install the latest Intel and NVIDIA drivers from Acer’s support page. Make sure Acer NitroSense is installed and updated because it controls system performance. If the FPS drops stay the same, try a clean boot to check if a background app is causing the conflict.
