CoPilot Reset Request

Hello,

I’m writing because several Copilot Task attempts failed or stalled while I was assembling a long document. Each failed attempt consumed a Task run, even though the Tasks did not complete. As a result, I unexpectedly exhausted my monthly Task quota.

I was not misusing the system — I was simply trying to complete one document, but the repeated failures caused my quota to be consumed.

Could you please reset my Copilot Task quota for this month as a courtesy? This would allow me to complete the document I was working on without waiting until the next monthly reset.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Emma, I had only used an AI product to create a plan document one time, and I was impressed by it. So, I decided to try something more ambitious. I was working on a personal retirement plan. During the process I learned that I was actually working with a Chat engine and that a finished, polished document would actually be created with a Task engine. The Chat engine set up multiple opportunities to publish the document, however, the Tasks engine kept failing to create the output. Perhaps I was not interfacing correctly with the Chat engine. I'm not sure. Anyway, the Chat engine created so many Task starts for the document, or pieces of the document, that I was trying to create that my Task quota was exhausted. The Chat engine said that it would advise me if my quota was nearing the end, but it did not. So, I was not able to complete my document. Apparently, I have to wait until July 1st to have more Tasks available. Also, I was unaware that Copilot is in some kind of preview phase of development. I encourage Microsoft to continue development, as I think the product shows real promise. It might help to add a meter to show users how much of the resource has been used and how much remains. Also, when the product is generating content, it would help to have a meter that estimates the time remaining for completion of a Task. One of my attempts lasted for about 14 hours. I asked the Chat engine what happened and was informed that the Task must hung up in the processing. Anyway, I I cannot get my Task quota supplemented at this time; I look forward to using the system when more Tasks are available to me.

    Welcome Blake Cumbers,

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your Copilot Task quota was consumed due to multiple failed or stalled task attempts while working on a document, and you are requesting a courtesy reset.

Before proceeding further, could you clarify a couple of points:

    • Which Copilot product are you using (for example, Windows Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, or Copilot Pro)?
    • Are you signed in with a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?

I look forward to your reply so we can continue working together to address the issue.
